Syabas Goh Liu Ying! Establishes a badminton hall in Malacca! Also promotes her badminton academy!
Published byFormer national badminton player Goh Liu Ying announced that a badminton hall named after her initials, GLY Badminton Hall, officially opened on Saturday, 1st July 2023 in Krubong, Malacca, Malaysia.
Olympic silver medalist Goh Liu Ying announced her retirement in January 2023 and shared the joyous news of her marriage and pregnancy in April 2023.
Goh Liu Ying stated, "Most of my post-retirement plans revolve around badminton because it is what I love the most.
"I had thought about running a badminton hall before, but it was just an idea. During my pregnancy, I had the time and the opportunity to plan and execute this project with friends who shared a similar vision."
Opening the badminton hall in Malacca holds special significance for Goh Liu Ying. She expressed that it is her birthplace, where she grew up, and it marks the starting point of her badminton journey.
By opening a badminton hall in Malacca, she not only reminds herself of her original intentions but also aims to contribute more badminton resources to her hometown.
GLY Badminton Hall features seven courts available for local residents to rent, along with the GLY Badminton Academy, which offers opportunities for local residents to learn badminton.
Goh Liu Ying mentioned, "I hope to help more badminton enthusiasts and those aspiring to become national players through the badminton hall and academy."
To celebrate the opening of the badminton hall, GLY Badminton Hall is offering free court rentals to the public. Individuals can make a reservation in advance through the AFA Community application and enter the promo code "glybh" for a chance to rent a court for free. The free rental is only available before 6 PM on 1st and 2nd July 2023.
Additionally, on the opening day, GLY Badminton Academy is offering a promotion with waived registration fees, allowing individuals to sign up for training packages without having to pay the registration fee. Participants will also receive badminton equipment worth RM150 to RM300.
